On December 31st, 2019, Claire Monroe was at her family’s estate in Lake Como, Italy, along with her friends Harper, Luca, Sirina, and David. That night she died, her body found in the lake, and ruled an accident, a few days longer. The four friends, who all have secrets, make a promise to never talk about that night again. Now, five years later, they each get an invite to return to the scene of the death, to celebrate Claire’s life. After they arrive and get to know each other again, they have barely spoken since the accident, they start to receive notes, and strange things are happening. Someone knows the truth and is blackmailing them so that the truth of what happened that night comes out. We slowly learn their shocking secrets, and on the night of the party, a shocking event takes place that reveals what happened five years ago, or does it? A twist ending you don’t see coming changes everything. This is an intense, slow-building plot that really picks up in the second half of the book and leaves your jaw dropping with the final reveal. Author Kit Frick has written a masterful suspense thriller.
