Michael Gannon is in South Florida with his girlfriend, Colleen, to watch his son pitch in his first minor league baseball game. When she gets a call that her father has had a stroke, they head to Key West so she can grab a flight out. He is stuck there and meets John Hayden in a bar. He is an Australian banker and in some trouble. He is looking for a bodyguard and offers Mike, who is an ex-NYPD cop, a job and a lot of money. Mike turns him down, and on his way back to his hotel, he finds John in a dangerous situation at a gas station. Mike gets in the middle of it, and takes off in the shooter’s truck. The next day, his face is everywhere he is the suspect in the death of the clerk working at the gas station. He must find Hayden to clear his name, and he soon learns why Hayden is here. He has a chip that could wipe out all the financial markets and the Federal Reserve, all for the revenge of his daughter, who died of a drug overdose. There’s a kill team sent to the US, who team up with the FBI, who have no clue their real reason for trying to find him. It all leads to New York, and a race against time to stop Hayden before it’s too late. This is the fifth novel in the series, and it’s a great story. Author Ledwidge has written several books with James Patterson, and it shows. This is a thrill ride you will not want to put down. A great-end-of-the year book.
