Twenty-four years ago, Cindy got pregnant when she was 17 and was going to give up the baby to Ava and Milton, who could not have kids of their own. After the baby, Shannon was born, Cindy changed her mind and kept the baby and never spoke to Ava again, and then ended up adopting another baby, named Victoria. Today, Shannon is engaged to be married, and Victoria, who is a stuntwoman, is in the hospital after suffering an accident. The relationship between Ava and Victoria has never been strong, and it’s not great now. While checking out a venue for Milton’s birthday party and Cindy’s upcoming wedding, the two women run into each other for the first time in 24 years, and the whole truth comes about to their daughters about what happened back then. Victoria is shocked and hurt, and Shannon is more understanding. They all end up hanging out, becoming friends and trying to move on with their lives. This is another great Susan Mallery character-driven novel that only she can write. Fans of hers will love this one.
