Ellie Marshall, an author, and Drake, meet at a bar, and two and a half years later, they’re living together and planning their wedding. On a night out, they stumble on an old movie theater and decide to see a movie, The Story of You. They each have to buy 10 tickets, and they find they’re the only ones in the theater. The movie turns out to be the story of their lives, in ten parts. Each installment shows certain parts of their lives from a young age, up until now. It also shows secrets from their pasts that they have never revealed to each other. As they watch the stories of their lives play out, it turns out they don’t know as much about each other as they thought, and it questions everything about their relationship and if they should get married. This is the debut novel of author Thea Weiss, and it is great. It’s a well-written, character-driven novel, and you find yourself engrossed with these two characters and their lives. This is one you will not be able to put down.
