Eve Dallas wakes with a plan go in early and catch up on paperwork, at least that was the plan. She gets a call that a woman is found dead and rushes to the scene. A prostitute, known as an LC, which means she is legal, has been found posing like the girl in the painting by Vermeer, Girl With a Pearl Earring. The next night, another murder takes place, and this time it’s a man posed like Blue Boy, the painting by Gainsborough and one more death the next night in the same vein as the others. Eve starts to figure out that the murderer is a failed painter, who is rich, due to the expensive costumes and paints that have been used. In a rush to prevent a fourth night of killings, Eve and crew have come up with enough information to track him down and move in for an arrest. The problem they face is keeping him in jail, the man’s family has money and power and will do whatever it takes to set him free. This is the 61st novel in the series, and it’s another good one. The highlight of these books is watching Eve get annoyed with Peabody and her fellow detectives for their choices of ties and hats, and in this book, having to go to a dinner party. Lots of trademark LOL moments to be had. Fans of the series will enjoy this one.
