The year is 1917, and Isaac Bell is on a ship headed for England, along with Eddie Tobin, both work for the Van Dorn Detective agency. They’re bringing a shipment of gold to help the British cause in WWI. Once the gold is on land in England, their job is done, and Isaac will spend time with his wife, Marion. Someone tries to steal the gold, but Isaac stops them. Since he is near the war front, Isaac is asked to go to the front by President Wilson and let him know what the US troops would be in for if the US joined the war. He makes it to the front, gets caught by the Germans, makes a daring escape, only to get caught up with anarchists and has to get to New York to save the city before they strike. All in a day’s work for the incredible Isaac Bell. This novel is another great one in the series. It’s all action, involving Winston Church and the father of famed author Ian Fleming. The action is fast and furious and author Du Brul captures the horror of WWI. Fans of this series will enjoy this one.
