Thomas Berte is a lawyer at one of the top law firms in the country, and has been for seven years. He works a lot and bills a lot of hours. He gets a message to meet the top boss, Ignatius Balatoni, in his office. When he gets there, he gets an offer he’s not expecting, a chance to interview to be Deputy Attorney General of the United States. He gets the job, and he and his wife move to Washington. He’s to lead a major investigation of a top-crime boss, Cosimo Benedetto, who has evaded capture for years and leads a worldwide organization. What he doesn’t know is that his whole life has been planned out, and he has been helped at every turn, when a shocking secret is revealed. When he gets set up as the fall guy for the government, he decides to go on the offensive to try and save his life and reputation. This is an intense, well-written legal-action thriller that starts off strong and never lets up. There’s a follow-up novel done and coming out soon and I can’t wait. Move over, John Grisham, Dan Buzzetta has arrived!
