Lottie James is a Grandmother (in her mid-70’s), lives by herself in a big house near Salem, Oregon and has a hidden past she’s a killer. Years ago, she killed four people who pissed her off, covered up each murder with no evidence to convict her, even though one cop knew she was guilty. He was never able to pin anything on her. When the news got hold of the story, she was forced to change her identity and that of her son. They moved away and started a new life. When a producer shows up at her house one night wanting to pitch a documentary series about her past, Lottie slips back into killer mode and murderers her, burns her body, and covers her tracks. That’s just the start of things she is forced to commit more murders, cover more tracks and plan every detail to make sure nothing comes back to her, and it’s not easy. Author Samantha Downing has done it again…this is one of the best books of the year! It’s a great plot, with a character you root for, even though you shouldn’t. Following her as she does what she needs to do is fun, clever and engaging.
