After the events of the last book, Lonnie Mixell is still alive and missing. A fired federal employee has hired him to take out the current US President, and CIA director Chrisine O’Connor searches for the one man who may be able to stop him, Jake Harrison, who has gone to ground to protect his daughter. She tracks him down and he agrees to try and find him. A new Russian President is elected and causing trouble in the Middle eEst, blocking a key waterway and blowing up ships carrying oil and gas and an battle is brewing in the water between US forces and the Russians, which leads to a game of cat and mouse between the two countries. Jake Harrison has gotten a lead on Mixell, and a violent showdown takes place, leaving one dead and one gravely injured. This is the eighth book in the series, and it’s another thrilling action-packed novel, on two different fronts. Author Campbell ramps up the action, and this is one you will not want to put down. One of the best action thrillers of the year.
