Olivia Finn is a memory expert at a hospital in England and on this morning she gets an emergency call from the French police. Her grandmother, Josephine Benoit, is making a scene at the Lutetia Hotel in Paris. She suffers from dementia and she claims that in 1945 she killed a woman in room 11, right after she got back from camps that the Nazis had her in. She claims that Josephine isn’t her real name. Olivia decides to investigate what she is talking about and a mysterious person is alarmed and has hired a killer to take out her grandmother and even Olivia. We learn from flashbacks just what went on back then and how it relates to what is going on today and it leads to shocking memories, long-held secrets and a reveal you don’t see coming. This is the second novel from author Blake, his first was Anna O (and it was a great debut novel). He has written another great psychological thriller that keeps you engaged throughout the novel. With only two novels to his name he has become a force in the writing world. I can’t wait to see what he does next.
