Six months ago Maisie Smart, a photographer, had a one-night stand with Nick King, a star hockey player and the next morning he was gone, no note nothing. She has thought of that night a lot, thinking she could have had something with him. Now it’s Christmas time and her whole family is at a Christmas tree farm, run by Ellie and her 4-year-old son Ash, a perfect location for a family holiday. Then Nick King shows up, turns out Ellie is his sister. He’s been on the sideline with a knee injury and some mental health issues but is ready to be back on the ice for New Year’s Eve. They’re shocked to see each other and she’s mad at him for the way he left that morning. He has thought of her a lot as well and turns on the charm, explains why he left so suddenly and they reconnect with each other. Maisie is worried about how she can have a future with him when she lives in Seattle and he’s in California and different cities all the time. They declare their love for each other and Nick makes a bold decision, that will impact their future together. This is a heartwarming rom-com, with two characters you root for to be together. At its core it’s about family, friendships and love. A feel-good Christmas novel.
