Kathy Valence works for S.C.Y.T.H.E. and she collects dead people’s souls to bring them over, if it’s not done within 45 days they become ghosts on earth. Her new case is a young man, Conner Ortiz, who is 17, and is case number 507032, and his soul is missing. When she finally finds him, he tells her he was murdered and it was from someone from her company. She tries to convince him to let his soul cross over, but he refuses, and she decides to try and find who killed her. She also has other issues going on, namely she’s pregnant and her soon-to-be ex, Simon, clearly doesn’t want the divorce and is overjoyed when he learns he’s going to be a dad. Kathy joins up with Jo, a former co-worker, Simon and Conner, to track down the killer before it’s too late. This is a great first novel in this new series. Filled with humor, fun and a ragtag group of four, this is one not to be missed.
