While out picking blueberries, Cork O’Connor’s grandson, Waaboo, stumbles upon a dead body, and sees spirits. At first, it’s thought the body belongs to Olivia Hamilton, the daughter of a state Senator, but turns out it’s not. Since it belongs to an Indigenous woman, it’s left up to the locals and Cork to find out who is she is and what happened to her. Then the body of Olivia is found, and Waaboo is still seeing spirits, and this time federal forces come in to investigate her death, and see if the first woman ties in as well. Just what is going on with these deaths and the reservation, and is his grandson in danger from seeing too much? Cork must act fast to solve these cases before it’s too late. Author William Kent Krueger has written another great novel in the series, has he ever written a bad novel? Long-time fans of this series will not want to put this one down.
