Jane Smith is a badass attorney, who works with her investigator, Jimmy, on cases. In the first book Jane got Rob Jacobson, a rich man on Long Island, involved with shady people, off on the murders of 3 people. As this book opens, Rob is once again accused of murdering 3 people. Jane ends up taking the case and soon finds herself, as well as Jimmy, her boyfriend and her sister, in danger from some bad people, who don’t want her defending Rob or asking questions that can lead back to them. It becomes a game of cat and mouse between Jane, Jimmy and these people, and who is controlling them. As bodies start to add up, and people are getting hurt, Jane goes on offense to figure out who is out to get them. This is the second book in the series and a great follow-up to the first novel. James Patterson has never written a bad book, and add the awesomeness of Mike Lupica, and you have another hit series on your hands.
