Twenty years ago, Lee left her family and the magic of the land, in Craw Valley, to start a new life in California. She got married to Cooper, had two kids, Meredeth and Cliff, and is now planning on a divorce and has returned to the land she said she never would go back to. She moves in with her grandmother, Belva, whom some say is a witch, and tries to stay away from the magic that is part of her family. When her daughter gets her period, it’s time for her to learn the magic as well. When two people are found dead and another one injured, suspicion turns to Lee’s family. It seems the magic has gotten powerful and a mysterious shadow man has been seen in order to protect her family, Lee must embrace her magic, find her missing daughter, and confront this shadow man, before it’s too late. This is the debut novel from author Dyer and it’s a good one. Fans of magical thrillers will enjoy this page-turning novel.
