Hannah Solace has returned to her hometown to help manage an inn her sister Reggie owns. She has become good friends with Ezra Grayson, who is 80, widowed and cranky. He lives on a valuable piece of land and his house is falling down around him, and he refuses to move. His family is waiting for the day he dies, thinking they’re getting the land, and he wants nothing to do with them. When he calls Hannah and tells her he needs to talk to her, she agrees to meet him, until she finds him dead, at Devil’s Pond, and it’s murder. She soon learns she has been left everything by Ezra and becomes a suspect in the case. She decides to investigate on her own, and someone wants her gone, and by the time she can figure out who it is, it might be too late for her. This is the first novel in this new small-town murder mystery series. It’s a fun one, with interesting characters, an easy-to-read story and a cute dog named Moose. I can’t wait for the next one.
