Ellery Wainwright was expecting to spend her 20th anniversary with her husband Luke at a Big Sur resort, except her husband left her and is with another woman. It was already paid for, so she is going alone. When she gets there, a big wedding is booked, and she’s one of the few not invited and meets Nina and Ravi, two friends there for the weekend, who she hangs out with. When she goes to take an early morning swim, she finds the dead body of the groom, and a storm hits the area, knocking out roads and communications, the resort is on its own and will be for days, with a killer. Then a second body is found, that of the best man, and now Ellery is playing detective to try and solve these murders before it’s too late for more people. A solid debut novel, with some well place twists and turns (and a shocking secret that Ellery has), that keep the readers engaged throughout the novel.
