Ava Graham is heading off to Italy to finish her college law studies for a month and to honor her late mother. After that, she expects to come home, marry her boyfriend Ethan and start her job at a high-powered law firm. Things change quickly at the airport when he tells her to sow some oats and puts them on a break while she’s gone. She’s in shock and arrives in Italy, her driver James is an hour late, and she finds him to be an ass. Turns out he’s a professor, and she will be his TA for the next month. They spend a lot of time together, often clashing, until their mutual attraction takes over, and they fall for each other. Ava has also found out that Ethan may be seeing someone else. James and Ava fall for each other, have hot sex and know that this has to be short-lived, as she has to return to the States for her job. Then Ethan shows up with a diamond, James gets a job offer in London and Ava leaves for the her job and Ava must figure out who it is she wants. This is a delightful debut novel from author Schillig. The Italian setting, the great supporting characters and the two main characters are engaging, and you root for the two of them. Fans of rom-coms will enjoy this one. A perfect beach read.
