The year is 1999 and Sawyer is working at a publishing house, and engaged to Charles, who has gotten a job as a junior associate at a big time law firm. He has been put on a big case, working with Kendra, who is dating Nick, and is a hot blonde. They’re working a lot of hours and both Sawyer and Nick are suspicious, and decide to meet up on Friday, and it’s summer so that means Summer Fridays, where everyone leaves at noon for the weekend. At first, they don’t really get on, then decide to spend Fridays together doing fun things. Meanwhile, Charles is still working long hours, and Sawyer knows things are not right with them, and soon she and Nick fall for each other. He dumps Kendra, and Sawyer has been trying to talk to Charles about their relationship, but he keeps putting it off. As Nick and Sawyer try to figure out if they have a future together, fate interviews, and now everything is in jeopardy. A fun, well-written rom-com, with two characters you follow along with and want to be together. Also love the throwback to AOL dial-up, used throughout the book (brings back memories). This is a great way to kick off the summer reading season.
