Ten years ago, before Robin Lockwood became a lawyer, she was a ranked MMA fighter for UFC. And she had a fight with the champ Mandy Kerrigan, and got her ass whipped, and ended up in the hospital. After that, she became a lawyer. Now ten years later she attends a card in Portland, with Tom, who works for the DA’s office, and is a potential new romance, three years after losing her fiancée. Mandy looses and then is busted for taking a banned drug. She goes to see her drug dealer Ryan Finch, beats him up and leaves, and later goes to his house, never sees him, and leaves. Then the Finch family, the parents, Ryan and his sister are found shot to death, and Mandy is arrested for their murders, and Robin takes the case. There’s no proof she ever went in, no fingerprints are found in the house, and no gun is ever found. And now Robin has to face off with Tom in court, and try to find a way to prove that Mandy is innocent, and stay alive when Russian mobsters are after her, who may or may not have something to do with the murders. I love this series, Robin Lockwood is one of my favorite characters to read every year, and these books are really well-written. Author Margolin takes the reader through every step, from arrest, to discovery, to investigation, and the actual trial. Fans of this series will be happy with book seven.
