Book Review: ‘The Royal Windsor Secret: A Novel’ By Christine Wells

Cleo Davenport is living in Cairo at a hotel, being raised by her two aunts. She has never known who her parents are and has always wondered. Now it’s time to be off to London, to learn how to be a proper English woman, and to go to the ball season, in hopes of landing a husband. She starts asking around about her birth and parents, and hears rumors her father might be The Prince of Wales, heir to the throne (future King Edward The VII, who gave up the throne for the woman he loved). It leads her on a wild ride to the truth, and sometimes it’s better not knowing. She survives through WWII, the ups and downs of a love affair with her best friend, and the shocking truth about who she really is. Fans of historical novels will eat this one up. It starts before the second world war, with flashbacks to earlier times, and looks at the royal family, Cartier jewelers and one woman’s determination to find the truth.
