1837 in Mexico, and Nena, who comes from a rich, powerful family, and Nestor are best friends, and hope one day to maybe marry, even though her family would never allow it. They sneak out one night to look for a silver treasure, and are attacked by a vampire, and Nena is left for dead, which breaks Nestor’s heart and he takes off. Nine years later we learn Nena did not die, Nestor is wandering the lands, doing job after job, and sowing his oats. When they hear that the Yankees are coming after the Mexican land, Nestor returns, and is shocked to see Nena, as is she with him. They are both part of the front line defense, and have to put their personal feelings aside, until an ambush, involving vampires, and the two have to run for their lives, sort out their feelings, return to their family, and save them from the Yankees, who are using the vampires in their fight. An excellent, action packed novel, featuring two characters you root for, and anything involving vampires I am in for. This is a sold follow-up to The Hacienda.

You can pick up Vampires Of El Norte in stores on Tuesday, August 15th from Berkley.
