Charlotte ‘Charlie’ Jones has left Australia in 1938, and her husband, to take a job in Paris at the London bureau of The Times as their newest journalist, a job she has only dreamed of. Her first big assignment is to cover a masquerade party hosted by Lady Ashworth, someone she needs to meet and get close to, as she and her husband are two of the most influential people in all of Paris. At the party, banker Maxime Marchland is found stabbed to death, and now Charlie finds herself with the chance for an even bigger story. There are any number of potential suspects, and Charlie will do whatever she can to write about and solve this case. It leads her to all sorts of places, and shocking secrets, and hopefully the story of her career. This is the first novel in this new series, and it is great. Charlie Jones is a well-written character, and the story is a fun one. Here’s to a long run of novels with this character.

You can pick up The Paris Mystery in stores on Tuesday, August 8th.
