Ava Harrison’s boyfriend died about a month ago, and today she receives a mysterious letter in her apartment about a job in Driftwood, Alabama, and it looks like it has his writing on it. The job is to be a caretaker for an older man, and it’s cimes with room and board. She must meet get to the town for an interview the next Monday morning. She arrives at Magpies, a coffee shop, and meets Maggie, who runs the place, after her mother vanished, and presumed dead 25 years ago. The job was never supposed to be filled, and Maggie doesn’t understand how Ava got it, but decides to introduce her to her father, and he hires her to help out with his house. Maggie and Ava become fast friends, as does the rest of the town, and Maggie is once again being courted by Donovan, a man she has always loved, and Ava meets a man as well, and they each hope they can finally put their hurt and pasts behind them and move forward. This is another great novel from author Heather Webber, who always writes magical, character driven novels, and this one has her trademark quirky characters, especially the old woman who owns a business next door, who seems to be able to see the future, and everyone is a bit scared of. This one’s a winner.

You can pick up At The Coffee Shop Of Curiosities in stores on Tuesday, August 1st from Tor.
