Four women’s lives will be changed by a summer on the Cape, in this well-written, character driven novel. Jessica Coleman is a lawyer in Charleston, is married to Parker, and they have a daughter, Caitlin. She finds out he’s been cheating on her, and she plans to go to the Cape with Caitlin, to visit her mother, and best friend Alison, for the summer. Alison is single, and about to lose her job at the Cape Cod magazine she works at. She has a daughter, Jess, who has a small jewelry business. When Alison mentions that the local bookstore is for sale, along with the coffee shop next door, Jessica decides to buy both and run them with Alison, and Caitlin. As the summer goes on, and they’re running the stores, they discover things about themselves, and what they want out of life. And it might even mean new relationships for all four. A perfect summer beach read.
