Book Review: ‘NYPD Red 7: The Murder Sorority’ By Marshall Karp

Author Marshall Karp has taken over the NYPD Red series from co-writing with James Patterson, to writing the whole thing himself, and has done an outstanding job with this new novel. Detectives Zach Jordan and Kylie MacDonald are part of the Elite Red squad, part of the NYPD force. They investigate crimes against the super rich and powerful. The novel opens with film producer William Hellman being acquitted in a murder case, and then shoot as he leaves the courthouse. Then hours later, his brother is stabbed to death. There is a super assassin team called Kappa Omega Delta, which is code for Killers On Demand. They each have women names, and are led by Mother. At first the detectives aren’t having much luck, until young Theo gives them a break, and it leads them to slowly tracking down the assassins, but not without danger around every corner. There’s a second investigation involving Kylie’s new boyfriend getting shot, and Zach learns shocking news about his past. Fans of this series will be very happy with this story and with Marshall Karp writing it, with lots of twists and turns you won’t see coming.

You can pick up NYPD Red 7 in stores on Tuesday, November 22nd from Blackstone Publishing.
