Vivian is a Chinese-Canadian, living in Toronto, and working in finance. Melvin Lee, is a Chinese-American, is a comedian and actor, having co-starred in a long-running sitcom. Vivian is a big fan of his and when her best friend is dating a co-star of Melvins, they meet and it doesn’t go well. Vivian is put off by him and they both are in the wedding, when they get engaged. As they end up having to spend time together, an attraction develops between them, they bang and decide to try dating, even if it’s long distance. Both have their own issues and opening up to each other is tought, but they try and work through it. But Vivian doesn’t think it will work out and things go cold between them. But Melvin isn’t going to give up and they have to figure out if they can make it work. With a lot of good supporting characters, espically Grandma, who likes to karoake and try to set up Melvin with dates, both male and female as he is bi-sexual, as is Vivian. This is another in a long line of good rom-coms that have come out in the last few months.

You can pick up The Stand-Up Groomsman in stores on Tuesday, October 25th from Berkley.
