Friends reunite for their annual every 5 years get together, on a tiny island in England. On the first night Rick Kelsall is found dead, by hanging in his room. The police are called and Det. Insp. Vera Stanhope is on the case. It is assumed it is a suicide but Vera thinks it’s murder and she’s soon proven right. So now a murder investigation is under way. There are any number of suspects, including the friends at the house, an ex-wife, a woman who filed sexual harrassment against Rick and it could involve a death from 50 years ago at the same location. A potential reason for the murder could be a tell-all book Rick was writing and then a second murder takes place. Vera and her crew have a lot of clues and interviews to undertake and when Vera finally figures it out, it may be too late for one of her team members. Another great novel in the series. Vera is a very interesting, well-written character and fans of the series will be happy with this one.
