Book Review: ‘Next Of Kin: A Novel’ By Kia Abdullah

Leila Syed gets a call from her brother-in-law Andrew needing a favor, he has to get to work and wants Leila to drop off his son Max at scool. She agrees and Max is in her back sear of the car. She gets an emergence call from her office and she;s needed right away. She rushes to her office and takes care of business. Then three hours later Andrew calls looking for Max, whjo never made it to school. Leila freads out and runs to her car, where Max is found dead in hot car. Leila is arrested and going on trial for manslaughter, But there’s so much more to this case, as there as a tow of secrets being held between the main characters, secrets that could blow this case right out of the water. The story at its core is about family and a tragic accident, that will either divide or bring two families together. It’s up to reader to pick sides and what they think is write. Just wait until the jaw dropping final reveal.
