Author Jamie Brenner’s last novel Blush was great. Her follow-up Gilt is Great! She’s really something special when it comes to writing character driven novels. Two sisters and a neice and their family jewelry store and the family fued that has engulfed then for years, comes to a boiling point. Pavlin jewelers has been in business for 100 years and was the standard in jewelry buying. Elodie Maybrook has been running the company for years now and hasn’t talked to her sister Celeste in years or her neice Gemma since she was a kid. The store is not doing well and she wants to have an auction but needs both of the women to sign off on it. It means having to try and convince them to sign. But there’s bad blood history over a man and a ring that was promised to Gemma. Now all three are in Provincetown for the summer and each woman has relationship issues, family issues and having to overcome the past and try to move forward as a family. This is a great summer beach read.
