The second novel (first novel Dietland) from author Sarai Walker is another winner. This time it’s a really well-written character driven story, with some gothic thrown in. So far Sarai is two for two with me. The year is 2017 ans Sylvia Wren is living as a recluse and always has been. She’s a famour artist who shuns publicity. She also has a secret…her name is Iris Chapel and she has a secret past that she left behind a long time ago. That is until now. A reporter thinks she has uncovered the secret of Sylvia/Iris and now the past has come back to her and she decides to write all the details down about it. She once had a family with five sisters and her mom and dad. The family was rich and was able to live the good life. That is until the sisters started dying one by one, after they got married or where with a man. No one seems to know why this keeps happening. We learn the whole story one death at a time. Iris decided she was going to die the same way and fled and now recalls everything.
