Julie Cohen has decided to leave her rich, controlling husband and takes her teenage daughter Jess with her, who is off to College in another year.. She’s been saving and planning for months now and has secretly bought a house on the other side of the tracks in Orange County. The house belonged to a disgraced pastor Rev. Doug Dean and his wife Sandi, along with their two young sons and older son Tom, who lived in the carriage house. Part of the deal is that Tom has to move out by the Sunday after Julie takes the house (a few days before). Tom has been away and knew nothing about this. He’s shocked and pissed off about it and has no plans to leave. He’s also made some new shady friends and has a plan to take care of things. Over the course of this weekend a lot of things happen, a party gets out of control, someone is arrested for soliciting sex at a strip club and a dangerous plan is in place and two people will be dead by the time it’s all over. There’s a lot that happens in the book and it’s told each chapter from the point of view of the character who it is central to. It’s a very character driven story with some well placed twists and turns to keep you engaged.
