The year is 1934 and Elena Standish and her parents are in the United States to attend the 60th wedding anniversary party of her Grandparents, who she has never met. Elena is excited for it to take lots of pictures, as she’s a photographer. In attendence are a lot of high society people, members of Congress and even the President and First Lady. Elena hits it off with the young wife of a scientist named Lila Worth. Later in the evening she’s found dead in the driveway, someone has run over her, with her Grandfather’s car. Her Grandfather is arrested and charged with the murder. Elena is determined to prove his innocence and it turns out the woman secretly worked for M16, just like Elena. Elena now goes to work to prove who really killed Lila. It tuns out Lila was working a secret assisgment and Elena takes over, putting her life in grave danger. And then she learns a shocking truth, as she uncovers who murdered Lila. Another sharply and well-written story focusing on the great character of Elena Standish and her secret work. The story keeps the reader engaged throughout the novel, with twists and turns and with Toby the dog back again for his third novel.
