I use to work in radio and years ago during the Halloween season Elvira aka Cassandra Peterson would come in studio with us every year she appeared in our town. I always found her to be a sweet lady and after reading her book I have even stronger feelings of respect for her. Her biography is Great. I read a lot of celeb bios and this is right there at the top. She leaves nothing out…the good, the bad and the famous. She admits she’s not an A or even B list celebrity but she is someone who worked hard to get to where she is. At the age of 70, she is now revealing all. We have been asked to be careful with the reviews as their is sensitive information, so this is more of a highlight of things to read in the book.
She was born in 1953 in a small Kansas town the first of three girls to an abusive mother and a father who drank a lot. By the time she hit 13 she had big boobs and she her best friend became groupies for bands that came to town. She would ofter be hanging out with them in their hotel rooms. She has great stories about meeting people like Jimmy Page, Jimi Hendrix and Tom Jones. By the time she was 17 she was working as a Vegas showgirl and hanging out with Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, the Osmond family, Elvis and many more. Sometimes she got in situations that weren’t good. They a stint in Europe and a scary situation and then a return to the states, joing the Groundlings and she goes into full detail on how she became Elvira, Mistress of the Dark. There’s so much so goes in depth about and shocking revelations never before revealed, make this one book worth reading.
You can pick up the book in stores on Tuesday, September 21st from Hachette Books.
