Hannah was the product of an affair with her mother and a rich Nigerian man that she met once when she was eight and then never had contact with him again. And now she gets a call from her mom that he has died and she needs to go to Nigeria to attend the funeral and meet the family she never knew. She arrives there and is in for a shock to learn the family doesn’t know about her. She’s introduced to them and as expected they’re cold to her. All except Lawrence, who she actually met in San Francisco last week. But the terms of the will are they must all stay in this big house and get to know each other. It’s a true test for Hannah to learn the culture and to get to know this family who start to warm up to her. She and Lawrence also become hot and heavy and just as things seem to be looking up, shocking secrets and the reading of the will change everything for Hannah, Lawrence and her new family. A solid story of family highlights this book as does learning about the culture of Nigeria, which plays a big part of the story. If you’re a fan of rom-coms/dramatic stories, this is a perfect book for you.
