Book Review: ‘M, King’s Bodyguard: A Novel’ By Niall Leonard

Author Niall Leonard has written a great historical fiction novel, based on real-life events. It’s a thrilling story set in 1901 London and starts off fast and never lets up. A Great summer read.

The year is 1901 and Queen Victoria has just died. Her Grandson Kaiser Wilhelm, who rules Germany, has arrived right before her death. The funeral will be days and Wilhelm will be returning along with other heads of states for the funeral with the new King Of England Edward the VII. Detective Chief Supt. William Melville of Scotland Yard, who has also been a bodyguard for the royal family, has uncovered a potential plot again Wilhelm, to be carried out during the funeral. He teams up with the head bodyguard for Wilhelm, named Gustav Steinhauer, and go on the hunt for the suspect(s). But just who Melville can trust is in question and time is running out to find out who is really behind whatever plot is about to take place.
