I love Ashley Weaver books. Her Amory Ames series one of my favorites and now she’s back with book one of a new series set in 1940 with England’s entry into WWII. This new series is set around the character of Ellie and her Uncle Mick (who has a locksmith business), who break into houses around England and steal from the rich. On this night it’s an ambush and they’re lead away in handcuffs and think they’re going to prison. But it’s not the police but a secret group that works for the government, who need them for their ‘special’ skills, to help stop top-secret information from getting to the Germans. Major Ramsey is the leader, a good looking yet very serious man, who enlists their help. They have no choice in the matter. When they go on the first assisgnment they find a dead man and it leads to more dead people. Ramsey and Ellie continue working together to find the documents and uncover who the double agent is working against them. It leads to someone’s life being in danger and a shocking betrayal.

This book was a Great start to this new series. The characters are well-written and the story fun. There’s a love triangle brewing and other mysteries that will play out in future books. Well worth picking up for the Memorial Day weekend.

You can pick up A Peculiar Combination in stores on Tuesday, May 25th from Minotaur Books.
