Book Review: ‘While Paris Slept: A Novel’ By Ruth Druart

Author Ruth Druart has written one of the best novels of the year. Five people’s lives are affected by Hitler’s rise in Paris and it’s a story that will tug at your hearts. This is her debut novel and more like this will make her a force in Historical Fiction.

In 1944 Hitler is clearing France of all Jews. For Sarah and David they must escape the country with their just born new son. They almost make it but are caught. On the train to a camp Sarah is able to give her child to railroad worker Jean-Luc. He has no idea what to do with the child named Sam. He goes to Charlotte, the girl he’s been seeing and they devise a plan to take the child together out of the counntry. They end in the US and in 1953 they’re living in California. Then one morning investigators show up asking questions about Sam and a shocking revelation is revealed, one that will forever change the lives of these people.
