Book Review: ‘Bunny’ By Mona Awad

Mona Awad is back with a page-turning, bloodbath story of girls at a small New England college who are in an elite group that call themselves bunnies all the time and refer to each other as bunny. They act at times like they are one person. They are rich girls who give off an aura of being better than everyone else.

For Samantha she notices them all the time and they annoy her. She has a class with four of them and feels like an outsider. Samantha is kin of a loner at school with one friend named Ava. Then one day Samantha gets an invitation to a bunny event called the ‘smut salon.’ She doesn’t understand why she was invited and at first isn’t going to go. She has plans with Ava but ditches her and goes to the event. Soon Samantha is drawn into their cult like world and things will never be the same. What is real and is not lead the story up to what could be a deadly outcome.

I think actress and author Lena Dunham says it perfectly in her quote for the book ‘Mona Awad’s precision is only matched by her wit as she mounts one of the most pristine, delightful attacks on popular girls since Clueless.’ I could not say it better and this sums it up perfectly.

You can pick up Bunny in stores on Tuesday, June 11th from Viking.
