Book Review: ‘Layover’ Is The Next Exciting David Bell Thriller

One of favorite books of 2018 was David Bell’s Somebody’s Daughter. Now he is back with his next thriller Layover out on Tuesday, July 2nd from Berkley. A man meets a mysterious woman at the airport and they only spend a little time with each other and she ends up changing his life.

Joshua Fields works for his dad in commercial real estate. He’s on the road every week flying to different places. He’s usually on the same flight every week out of his home city of Chicago. This time he flies into Atlanta on the way to Tampa. He meets a beautiful, mysterious woman named Morgan. He ends up getting a drink with her. The talk a bit and then she has to catch her flight to Nashville. She leans in and kisses him and tells him they will never see each other again.

Joshua is at a loss for words. He is in line for his flight to Tampa when he suddenly changes his flight to Nashville. He’s determined to talk to her more and figure out what is going on. He sees her on the plane and she acts like she doesn’t know him and tells him to go away. When they land Joshua is at a loss. He decides to google her and finds her Facebook page and it says she is a missing person and a police report has been filed. He notifies the police who take the info.

Meanwhile in a small southern town a wealthy man has gone missing. And we soon learn it could somehow involve Morgan. Joshua soon tracks down Morgan and learns her story (or some of it). But he is not the only one looking for her. The police are as is the dead man’s brother. Soon Joshua will have to figure out what he will do about Morgan and his future.

Another thrilling story with twists and turns that have you guessing right up to the very end. You feel for the character of Joshua and his obsession with Morgan. What is it about her that makes him basically a stalker. David Bell is slowly becoming one of my favorite authors and I can’t wait for his next book to see where he goes.
