Meet Clive, a South African shopkeeper-philosopher, and owner of a home-goods store that has been in his family since the 1940s. Meet Ben, Clive’s son, who has opted not to take over the family business and to become a filmmaker instead. Over the course of one month filming at the store and around South Africa, Clive’s relationships with relatives, employees, and his country’s history are laid bare. Ben comes to realize that the film isn’t only about his father and the business, but about the relationship between his father and himself.
