Orishas, the pioneering hip-hop group, returns to their native Cuba, and lights up Havana’s riverside amphitheater, in an energizing music special for HBO Latino®. Premiering on Friday, March 15th at 8pm, the three-time Grammy-nominated® trio perform their most popular hits, from “Represent” and “Hay Un Son,” to “A Lo Cubano,” “537 C.U.B.A.,” and “Nací Orishas.” The special will also be available on HBO GO®, HBO NOW®, HBO On Demand® and partners’ streaming platforms.
Orishas’ distinct sound combines traditional Cuban music with the hip-hop genre, and their lyrics cover a range of topics including immigration, identity, racism, and Afro-Cuban religion. Each member of the group adds their own musical touch – Roldán’s voice, filled with a tropical “guajiro” feeling, Yotuel’s smooth and spicy flow, and Ruzzo’s underground rap style – come together to create an award-winning group, and an unforgettable night of singing and dancing in Havana.
Their latest album ‘Gourmet,’ includes a cross-generational cast of artists, and was nominated for a 2019 “Best Latin Rock, Urban or Alternative Album” Grammy.
