Tate Donovan (Argo, “Damages”) headlines the “edgy, heartwarming comedy” (Indiewire), available on Digital HD and On Demand August 19 from MarVista Digital Entertainment. Written and directed by Evan Buxbaum, making his feature-film debut, the multicultural story also stars India Ennenga (“The Returned,” “Treme”), Ana de la Reguera (Netflix Original Series “Narcos,” The Book of Life), Miguel Sandoval (Oculus, “Medium,” Jurassic Park) and Rachael Harris (The Hangover, “Suits”). “A testament to the enduring power of humor, even in the most trying situations” (Indiewire), the film will be available on Amazon, Google Play, iTunes, Vimeo and VUDU, as well as On Demand with AT&T, Charter, Comcast, Cox, DirecTV, TWC, Verizon and Vubiquity on August 18.
Set in the Sonoran Desert, just south of Tucson, Arizona, Sun Belt Express follows Allen King (Donovan), a down-on-his-luck professor who agrees to earn some extra cash by smuggling undocumented immigrants across the border. When his curious teenage daughter Emily (Ennenga) sneaks into the trunk of his car to discover what he’s been up to, Allen finds himself on an unhinged run across the Mexican border with his daughter in tow, a former girlfriend (de la Reguera) and three undocumented immigrants in the trunk. What follows is a family road trip full of surprises and revelations that will change their lives forever.
