The second trailer announced it’s presence with authority … by dominating and nearly crashing the Twitterverse. The movie is still 8 months away (December 18), but the marketing is working … long-time fans are beyond excited and it seems to be attracting a whole new generation of curious youngsters.
There are no shortage of blogs with shot-by-shot analysis, but a conversation with my son (one of the more knowledgeable and insightful Star Wars fans in my sphere of influence) has led to some interesting questions and observations. A few are listed below:
Using the speech from Return of the Jedi as narration acts as a bit of foreshadowing that could tie in the Adam Driver and/or Daisy Ridley characters.
We get much better looks at the updated and highly anticipated Stormtroopers and TIE fighters, plus the Chrometrooper and his intimidation walk.
Even better, we get some good looks at the brute force approach of Kylo Ren using the Force and possibly leading Stormtroopers.
It’s a bit disappointing we still don’t see enough of Oscar Isaacs to discern his role and where he fits.
The charred mask of a certain key character leaves us with possibilities that will need clarification in the movie.
And the final shot is the smile-inducing look at Chewbacca and Han Solo … for the first time in over 30 years.
Now that’s the way to structure a trailer!
