Review by Lisa Payne

David (Jeremy Piven) lost his wife a couple of years ago. He and his daughter, Jules (Olivia-Mae Barrett) are still grieving hard.

Jules has the idea that David would be better off if he met someone else, so she joins several online dating sites on his behalf. She actually spends £300 in a month (how, seriously how) on them. She contrives these dates where David has no idea what is going on except that whenever he goes out with Jules, women who appear to know his name, come up and talk to him.

David’s best friend, Sarah (Joely Richardson), is also one of his exes (the movie almost lost me at this implausible scenario), and they have a cute vibe where she gently tells him off and ribs him.

My Dad’s Christmas Date is set in the beautiful city of York in England. The first 15 minutes had me thinking I was going to hate it, however it is quite charming in that twee, Christmas way.

With the US Election and Lockdown 2.0 in the UK, it is exactly what I needed – cute, a bit emotional and excellent performances.
