Review by Lauryn Angel
As the title suggests, Merry Kissmas is a Christmas romance. Kayla (Karissa Lee Staples) should be the happiest woman on earth as she is engaged to world-famous choreographer Carlton Wells (David O’Donnell). Unfortunately, Kayla feels more like Carlton’s personal assistant lately than his fiancée. Her feelings become more complicated when she meets lonely caterer Dustin (Brant Daugherty) in a mistletoe-festooned elevator. The two share a kiss, and due to the elevator’s reputedly magical properties, neither of them can forget it – leaving Kayla confused about her love life.
The plot is pretty predictable, but the movie is charming. Both Kayla and Dustin are likeable characters – Carton is not, but that’s what allows the audience to entertain Kayla’s attraction to Dustin as permissible instead of seeing it as infidelity. It’s very PG, so it’s suitable for the whole family to watch, but it will most likely only entertain fans of romance.
