Emmy® Award winner Gil Bellows (The Shawshank Redemption, “Ally McBeal”) joins Irish actress Katie McGrath (Jurassic World, “Dracula”) and multi award-winning solo artist Bok van Blerk in the exceptionally charming tale, Leading Lady, available on Digital HD and On Demand June 16 from MarVista Digital Entertainment (MVDE). Set in the small picturesque town of Brandfort, South Africa, the film is written and directed by up-and-coming South African director Henk Pretorius, known for the Bakgat! films – South Africa’s first ever film trilogy. Leading Lady follows Jodi Rutherford, a British drama teacher and aspiring actress who is hoping to land the lead role of an Afrikaans war heroine in a new film directed by Daniel Taylor (Bellows), an infamous director who also happens to be her boyfriend. When the audition doesn’t go as planned, Jodi heads to South Africa, determined to learn more about the history and lifestyle of her character in order to improve her performance. Upon her arrival, she persuades a reserved and rather stubborn farmer (van Blerk) to help her prepare for the role, and in return she agrees to direct the annual concert at his family’s farm. With two cultures colliding, Jodi learns more about what’s not caught on camera than ever before, and that sometimes changing course is exactly the right direction.
