Patricia Richardson is well know for her role as Jill on Home Improvement, Strong Medicine and The West Wing. She is now running to be President of Sag-Aftra. She talked about her reasons for it and changes that need to be made. She also cleared up what happened with Jonathan Taylor Thomas and the last season of the show. It’s in two parts below.

It’s sad to hear someone running for President of SAG-AGTRA who knows next to nothing about our contracts.
Nor does she understand that split earnings issue, which had been a problem for years. Does Ms.Richardson think that the management would have merged any of our health and pension plans without our merging the Unions?
How much longer did she want members to wait?
MembershipFirst failed to negotiate 8 out of the 9
Contracts they dealt with…in addition to ongoingly suing our union at the members expense going into the hundreds of thousand of dollars.
Firing 3 NED’s paying out millions in contracts.
Losing over 100 million in contract negotiations.
SAG-AFTRA financial reports are public on line you can see our LM2’s again she knows little to nothing about transparency.
There is nothing to hide.
If MembeshipFirst wins their sour grapes campaign they will run the union aground which is exactly what management would like….
This is really sad and what they have displayed over & over is a disrespect for our members as we’ll as a lack of fiscal responsibility.
As a member I don’t buy her or her parties scare tactics snd hyperbolic nonsense.

If the SAG-AFTRA membership is foolish enough to vote Ms Richardson and her MembershipFirst companions into office they will reap what they sow and it will be their own drastic loss. These are the very same people who almost sank SAG ten years ago and cost the members many millions of dollars in negotiation failures. These very people even sued their own union whenever they did not get their way. Their abject failure to honor the needs and the will of the membership cost us hundreds of thousands of dollars. It’s YOUR VOTE, folks – don’t be fooled again.
“Union Lady”(Bertila Damas) and “Union Man”(Bill Charlton), two of the three witches of Macbeth, are so full of it I think they may have exploded by now. “Does Ms.Richardson think that the management would have merged any of our health and pension plans without our merging the Unions?” Ummm….do you think they’re doing it now? No, they’re not. And do you know why? BECAUSE YOU CAN’T MERGE THE PLANS WITHOUT DIMINISHING THE SAG PARTICIPANTS’ BENEFITS! We are seeing this now, and yet it was something Membership First foresaw long before the third merger attempt. Why do you think MF “sued the union”? Because UFS was lying about how a merge of the plans could be done and would benefit participants. That was a complete lie! The judge actually agreed, but couldn’t stop the vote because a union has the right to vote to screw itself, as distressing as that may be. And they did. However, the judge made it very clear the case could be refiled if it became evident that they were weakening the SAG plan to strengthen the AFTRA one so they could meet in the middle-WHICH IS EXACTLY WHAT”S HAPPENING! Membership First fired ONE NED. Greg Hessinger. The same number as UFS, which illegally fired Doug Allen. Nothing to hide about financial reports? Why don’t you ask Amy Aquino about that? You know, the UFS founder who, as Secretary-Treasurer, was kept in the dark by her own party about a decision to spend several million dollars creating a “member lounge”? Why do you think she wants nothing to do with the cretins of UFS anymore? Your UFS train of lies, rewritten history and more lies is about to derail, big time. Patricia is the real deal, her appearances like this and on KTLA prove she has what it takes to lead this union. She’s wonderful! If Ken Howard dares to make any media appearances he’ll need to be propped up like it’s weekend at Bernie’s, complete with sunglasses, toupee, highball, and pillow. It’s time to move forward with Membership First and kick Ken to the dustbin of history.

You can easily see from the vitriol in the comments above from JUST THE FACTS what you can expect;
an utter disrespect for our members and a “win at any cost” attitude that has ransacked all of our members
in the past.
I have been a member for over 30 years and I am grateful for the work of Unite for Strength, they have brought
stability & prosperity to our Union. The record speaks for itself. It’s wonderful to have the internet, just Google.
People need to give Patricia a shot, instead of condemning before she’s lead. Why does past idiots mistakes, lies, and corrupt fall on her. The whining is annoying. If you’re not going to run, then dont be upset that someone else is running. That’s why you look each candidate that fits your needs or what you’re looking for. Bashing makes people feel real big, but that’s all you got to bring to the table.
It is not about giving Patricia a chance or not.
It is about the party that she is spearheading and the damage
they have done.
Patricia could’ve run as an independent and yet she chose to run with the party that almost ran SAG aground.
This says a lot about her intentions and her stand for our union.
It’s just like national elections. If you are a Republican we know what you stand for, etc.
Patricia’s party has put our union in huge danger. They know this and that is why in her candidate statement to our members she does not reveal her party….instead she chose to “out” their party via brochure mailings and the press.
She knows that if on the ballot she reveals her party she is sure to lose.

Patricia has little to no knowledge of our Union structures and even less about our contracts.
She is merely a puppet for the real leaders of MF.
This not personal, this about our Union staying strong.

Why would someone give Patricia a chance if she is not 100% qualified. She’s a nice enough person, but her interview said nothing. She is pandering to Broadcasters and background performers. Broadcaster and newscaster all over the country are endorsing Ken. He is respected within the industry as a smart man. MF has a long history of failure. Contracts expired causing $100mil in unrecoverable lost earnings for members…they launched 5 frivolous lawsuits against the union, each failed but cost a lot of our union dues to defend. The agency franchised ended…and how have they changed – there are many of the same MF people on the ticket., like Ed Asner — “We are surrounded by the pygmies of the entertainment world. We’re surrounded by AFTRA. We’re surrounded by NY, and its little people branches.” — Ed Asner, in a speech delivered in Griffith Park, 5/17/09

I agree that Patricia Richardson is probably a very nice person, and means well. However, she is aligned with the very people she should be running from if she wants a strong, stable and productive union. Membership First fought merger for years, but now they are eager to merge the Health and Pension plans? When – in 2055? The members gave them the opportunity to improve SAG many years ago, and what did they accomplish? They tried to torpedo our sister union’s contract vote (unprecedented in this industry) and when that didn’t work, they just tried to kill AFTRA (which includes 70,000 of our now SAG-AFTRA Members).
MF has historically recruited high-profile celebrities to run with them, and then put their own ringers in their elected spots when these celebs can’t make meetings, or resign their seats within months after the election. This is another example of putting up their most famous celebrity (untainted by their past disasters, because they weren’t around) who will take orders from the MF generals. I would hate to see this nice woman become another Alan Rosenberg, but that’s exactly what we’d get unless she sees the light before they destroy SAG-AFTRA as they nearly did to SAG.
Who could vote these people in after they failed so miserably for all the actors they claim to represent “first’.
