Directed by Peter Jackson, this first installment in the The Lord of the Rings film series follows young hobbit Frodo Baggins (Elijah Wood) who upon discovering a ring of untold power that a dark lord and others seek, he embarks upon a journey with eight companions (The Fellowship of the Ring) to Mount Doom in the land of Mordor, the only place where the Ring can be destroyed.
Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring is the 36th highest-grossing film of all time worldwide and has won numerous awards including four Oscars for Best Cinematography, Best Makeup, Best Original Score, and Best Visual Effects. The American Film Institute also lists the film as the second greatest fantasy film of all time in AFI’s 10 Top 10.
