SundanceTV will air an all-new episode of the network’s acclaimed original series “Hap and Leonard: The Two-Bear Mambo,” on Wednesday, April 11 at 10PM ET/9CT. The ensemble cast is led by James Purefoy (“The Following,” “Altered Carbon”) and Michael Kenneth Williams (“The Night Of,” “The Wire”) who play lifelong best friends. Inspired by the third book in the famed series by Joe R. Lansdale, and set once again in East Texas just before Christmas of 1989, the story begins as Hap (Purefoy) and Leonard (Williams) scramble to locate Florida Grange (Tiffany Mack), who has gone missing in Grovetown, a place where sinister simmers under the surface of the town’s glossy facade.
On the season finale, entitled “Monsoon Mambo,” back home in LaBorde, Hap and Leonard recover from the beating they took in Grovetown: emasculated, isolated, and estranged from each other. Hap discovers a new clue about Florida’s whereabouts and reconciles with Leonard. They hatch a plan to return to Grovetown, but before they go, Officer Reynolds shows up unexpectedly with the FBI to question them about their role in the Grovetown mayhem. Hap and Leonard outwit the cops and head back to Grovetown on their own to confront Truman Brown and the Klan. Once there, they uncover yet another shocking clue to Florida’s whereabouts. As they try rescue her, Truman Brown and his men arrive for a showdown. And in that moment, a flash flood of biblical proportions hits. Is it a reckoning for Grovetown’s past sins? The result of the L.C. Soothe curse? Or a bit of both?
